Ceramic tile, 15 x 13 ft., York Judicial Center, Biddeford, Maine

Installed on a single floating wall in the trial court lobby of the newly built York Judicial Center.

Irregular lines and textures shift and collide with thicker, more placid layers, giving the impression of geologic strata, as though sampling a cross-section of bedrock. Tiles are unglazed. Variation in color is a result of atmospheric differences in the kiln during firings.
